My Dream Book
Shoes every woman must have
Week 1: The classic black
pump
According to Christian Louboutin, the pump is the most flattering shoe for all women regardless
of their shape or size. I’m inclined to agree. Personally I'm a huge fan of the
pump with a platform, due to the fact that it improves the comfort for me – as
much as is possibly, anyway – but there are some really beautiful styles around
that are a very classic, simple shape and would be flattering on anyone.
My main consideration with the black pump is height. It
should be elegant and classic, and be able to be paired with many different
types of outfits ranging from work attire to casual with jeans and even cocktail
hour.
My main advice, if you’re going for the platform, is to make
sure that it has a sturdy heel. I’m not fan of the enormous platform
and tiny stiletto heel because I think a solid heel balances the look of the shoe better,
so maybe keep that look for a night out on the town if that’s your thing.
These two pairs of shoes are, for me, the epitome of the classic
black pump.
Rupert Sanderson shoes: I think they’re the essence of chic.
These shoes are beautiful. They’re the perfect height for work shoes and will
go from day to night with ease, and on top of that the almond toe cut is very neat and will
have you showing just a hint of toe cleavage .
Of course there are LOADS more styles than these two that I
haven’t mentioned and I would love to know what other features people are drawn
to in their classic pump. Leaving aside peep toes (I’ll attend to those later!)
do you
have an ideal classic-pump style?

I love the Chloe ones. They're very pretty. I find the Rupert Sanderson ones a little bit too 'safe'. Can't wait for the next shoe post!
