Quality over Quantity

My best friend's getting married next week - which I'm SUPER excited about - so what with all the preparations, parties and pedicures to organise leading up to the event I have really scaled back my shopping habits.

I have to say it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be, and at the same time it has made me think more closely at the things I'm buying and whether I really need them. I've decided that I need to start purchasing fewer items and spend the same amount on one or two quality pieces rather than 20 dresses that I'll probably only wear twice.

The most pressing vacancy in my wardrobe at the moment is for a decent black blazer. I bought a lovely one in London a few years ago from Zara that was perfect at the time: reasonably priced, formal enough for interviews but made of cotton so it's still casual enough to throw on with a pair of jeans and heels for an evening out. Now, though, it's seen a few too many winters and too many washes and isn't holding it's shape very well, so I've come to the realisation that it will have to be replaced.

I plan on buying a really nice, tailored blazer to replace it with and will start the hunt after the wedding festivities are complete. I'm expecting it to take several lengthy shopping trips (during which I'm sure I'll inadvertently purchase several other wardrobe items...) because I'm not looking for a quick-fix but something that will stay in my rotation for many years to come.

I purchased a beautiful black winter coat from Saba last year as I was in dire need of a staple for the colder months, and I have no doubt I'll have it for at least the next 5 years. I'd like to continue the habit on to trousers and shoes next, but they can wait for a while. I think a decent trench coat is required as well...

I'd love to hear whether you shop seasonally or buy investment pieces to last for a while. What items are you willing to spend more money on in the aim that they will last and last?

One-Piece

I'm running a little behind with my A to Z entries this week (due to several uni assignments and a severe lack of time) so I thought I'd branch out and combine O and P!

I haven't migrated back towards the one-piece since it came back into fashion a few years ago (mainly because I'm worried about unusual tan lines) but I'm well overdue for a new pair of bathers and I'm seriously considering diving in head-first!

Are you a fan of the one-piece?
