Beachwear

Day two of the A to Z blogging challenge!

I've been reading some entries from other participating bloggers and there are some excellent topics! For those of you who haven't heard of it the aim is to write a blog post every day on a topic that starts with a different letter of the alphabet. We start with A on the first of April and move on through each letter, with Sundays off for what I think could be a much-needed rest day.

So here's day two!

I love the beach. The only time I haven't lived near the beach was when my partner and I were in London for a couple of years doing the working-holiday thing, which was an amazing experience, but I think that wherever I live in Australia I'll need to be near the beach. I love the salty smell you come home to, being able to run along the beach path and only needing to walk down the end of the street to have a dip after work in the evening. So for day two of the challenge B is for beachwear. The last season has seen the retro look take hold in the swimwear arena, and I for one have loved it. High waists, polka dots, compfy loafers and cute hats - what's not to love?!

We're almost in full swing of the autumn/winter clothing ranges now in Melbourne so I'd love to hear what's coming out in the northern hemisphere this season. Any hot tips for what we should expect?

For me, essential beachwear is a cute hat, a colourful beach towel, something I can drape on after a swim and PLENTY of sunscreen. Here are some cute ideas for inspiration.

Some tips:
  •  Separates are your friend when buying bikinis. Seafolly is an Australian brand that offers a very wide selection of beautiful separates, as do Sunseeker and Jets, so get onto them!
  • Kaftans, cotton shift dresses and playsuits are easy pieces that work at pool parties and to/from the beach. Keep the neckline similar to your swimsuit for a clean look. Camilla has some lovely kaftans in amazing colours & patterns (available in Australia & NZ only ) - check them out here.

  2. How I miss the beach, now I've moved from Adelaide to London. Even if we drive through heavy traffic to the closest coastline, we don't find a beach, as such. Just chanel water. Now Cornwall is different.
